Transportation Authority Holds Autonomous Vehicle Hearing
At the October 24 Transportation Authority Board meeting, staff from the Transportation Authority, SFMTA, and San Francisco Fire Department, presented on the recent on-street experience and current regulatory landscape of driverless AVs in San Francisco. Balboa Park’s New Transit-Oriented Affordable Development and Open Space Plaza
We celebrated the grand opening of the new transit-oriented housing development and open space plaza adjacent to the Balboa Park BART Station. The Transportation Authority contributed $950,000 in transportation sales tax funds for design and construction of the new plaza.

Celebrating Transit Month
Transportation Authority Chair Rafael Mandelman, board members and staff joined San Francisco Transit Riders, State Senator Scott Wiener and Assemblymember Phil Ting at the kick-off rally in September to celebrate the start off Transit Month. Transportation Authority also staff spoke at events throughout the region. Transit Month culminated in the First Riders Awards.

Improving Safety and Accessibility Along Fulton Street
SFMTA completed safety improvements along three miles of Fulton Street between Stanyan and La Playa Streets, as part of the Fulton Street Safety Project. The Transportation Authority supported the planning and construction of the project with over $400,000 in funding from the Neighborhood Program.
