Caltrain hosted its second public tour to showcase the arrival of their new electric train sets at San Francisco’s 4th and King Caltrain Station. The Transportation Authority provided $41 million in transportation sales tax funds, One Bay Area Grant, and other funds to support Caltrain Electrification.

Our board approved the Treasure Island Supplemental Transportation Study Final Report. The study was requested by former District 6 board member Matt Haney to identify near-term supplemental transportation services that can meet the needs of existing Treasure Island residents.

The Transportation Authority is exploring how an on-demand shuttle service could improve transportation options in the Sunset, Outer Sunset, Parkside, Pine Lake Park, Lakeshore, and Merced Manor neighborhoods, as part of the District 4 Community Shuttle Study.

The Bayview Caltrain Station Location Study will recommend the selection of a single new Caltrain station location in the Bayview, prepare the station for environmental approval, and would restore access to Caltrain and the regional transit network to the Bayview community.

In July, San Francisco welcomed attendees from around the world to the 2023 Transportation Research Board’s Automated Road Transportation Symposium, an international autonomous vehicle industry conference where participants from industry, government and academia discussed the research, progress, challenges, and opportunities around AVs.

During its July meeting, the Transportation Authority Board approved the first four 5-Year Prioritization Programs and related funding allocations from San Francisco’s new Prop L half-cent sales tax Expenditure Plan.

Free, fully-electric autonomous shuttle - called the Loop - will operate daily, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
