Express lanes are a system of managed lanes used as a pricing tool for managing demand on freeways. Freeway congestion has returned and we are exploring what it takes to build out a regional express lane network that supports equity, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and manages congestion.

Transportation Authority Board Member Aaron Peskin (District 3) joined SFMTA, Downtown SF Partnership, and community leaders to celebrate the completion of the first protected bike lane in the Financial District. The Transportation Authority supported the project with funding from the half-cent sales tax for transportation and the TNC tax.

The Presidio Trust unveiled its first battery-electric bus, which will join the Presidio GO shuttle fleet, offering riders free connections to and from downtown BART, and on the Southern Hills Route around the park. The Transportation Authority helped provide funding for the shuttle through the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Transportation Fund for Clean Air, in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration.

The Transportation Authority Board approved $190,000 in half-cent transportation sales tax funds this month for the design phase of new traffic signals at the Sloat and Skyline Boulevard intersection at 39th Avenue, where Sloat Boulevard becomes State Route 35.

The San Francisco Department of Public Health released an updated 2022 Vision Zero High Injury Network and found that pedestrians are the highest proportion of severe and fatal injuries captured on the network. The SFMTA also presented findings from their Safe Streets Evaluation Program.
