Earth Month celebrates an opportunity to engage in and encourage initiatives dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. The Transportation Authority supports and delivers projects that pave the way for a sustainable future by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, and promoting sustainable transportation options.

This month we welcomed middle and high school students from San Francisco and the East Bay to the second “Girls in Motion” Spring 2024 Summit, an annual event introducing girls to careers in transportation.

Earlier this month, the Transportation Authority approved “support and seek amendments” positions on three bills: Senate Bill (SB) 1031 (Wiener, Wahab) - also known as the Connect Bay Area Act - and Autonomous Vehicle safety and transparency bills Assembly Bill (AB) 1777 (Ting), AB 3061 (Haney).

This month, Transportation Authority Board members approved $1.6 million in Prop L half-cent sales tax funds to support 34 blocks of pavement renovation throughout Districts 3, 5, and 6.

The Transportation Authority joined SFMTA, District 6 Transportation Authority Board Member Matt Dorsey, the SF Bike Coalition, and the San Francisco Giants to celebrate the completion of the 3rd Street Quick-Build Project. The project is one of several quick-builds designed to be installed quickly with lower cost materials, providing immediate community impacts.

The San Francisco County Transportation Authority has released its “Transportation Capital Projects Delivery Study,” commissioned by Chair Rafael Mandelman and prior Vice-Chair Aaron Peskin to examine ways to improve delivery of large scale, complex transportation projects in San Francisco.
