Sales Tax Reauthorization - INFORMATION*In November 2003, 75% of San Francisco voters approved Prop K, extending the existing half-cent local sales tax for transportation and approving a new 30-year Expenditure Plan identifying projects and programs to be funded by the sales tax. As we approach year 20 of the Prop K program, we are anticipating the need to update the Expenditure Plan to reflect new priorities that aren’t eligible under the 2003 Expenditure Plan and to replenish funds for programmatic categories that are running out of funds. For these reasons and in order to position San Francisco to capture potential new infrastructure funds, we are preparing a draft expenditure and approval process for potential Board consideration and placement on the June 2022 ballot. We are seeking input and guidance from the Board on the proposed process.
