The SFMTA has begun implementation of the Alemany Boulevard Quick-Build Project, which is located along Alemany Boulevard from Ellsworth Street to Congdon/Justin Drive and just north of the I-280 freeway.

This project builds upon other recently implemented east-west transportation safety projects by the SFMTA, including Alemany Bikeway Project, Alemany Interchange Bike Lanes Project, and the north and south transportation project Bayshore Quick-Build Project.

The Alemany Boulevard Quick-Build Project will improve safety and access for the Bayview, Bernal Heights, and Mission neighborhoods by slowing vehicle speeds and creating a safer and more comfortable citywide bicycle network. The project will feature:

  • A restriped roadway to create a road diet from three travel lanes to two
  • A protected bikeway
  • A new bus boarding island on Alemany Boulevard just west of the St. Mary Park Footbridge
  • Enhanced turn lanes

The Transportation Authority is supporting this project with $460,000 in transportation sales tax funds and Prop D Traffic Congestion Mitigation Tax funds
