The Transportation Authority has provided over $3 million to fund 44 new and rebuilt curb ramps at intersections across San Francisco, making it easier for people with disabilities and those with strollers or wheeled devices to get around.
Seven curb ramps at Sacramento Street and Sansome Street ($1 million)
Sansome Street and Sacramento Street is a busy signalized intersection with businesses on all four corners. The Transportation Authority provided over $1 million in funding for the construction and reconstruction of seven curb ramps and other street infrastructure at this intersection from San Francisco’s half cent sales tax.
Construction at the Sansome Street and Sacramento Street intersection includes reinstalling ADA compliant curb ramps, constructing 6-inch-wide concrete curbs, adding pedestrian guardrails, drainage work, and a traffic/pedestrian signal.
These curb ramp locations were primarily identified through SF Public Works inspections and a resident request. The project is expected to be open for use by late September 2026.
Over three dozen curb ramps at eight intersections ($2.1 million)
The Transportation Authority provided over $2.1 million in funding to SF Public Works from San Francisco’s transportation sales tax to support the construction and reconstruction of 37 curb ramps at eight intersections in Districts 2, 4, 5, 7, 9 and 10.
This project included demolishing existing curb ramps and curbs, constructing new ADA-compliant curb ramps, and reconstructing adjacent areas of the sidewalk and curb lane at the following intersections.
- Robblee Avenue and Thomas Avenue (District 10)
- 26th Street and Rhode Island Street (District 10)
- Virginia Avenue and Winfield Street (District 9)
- Quint Street and Scotia Avenue (District 10)
- 30th Avenue and Judah Street (District 4)
- Ocean Avenue and Victoria Street (District 7)
- 8th Avenue and Moraga Street (District 7)
- Baker Street and Golden Gate Avenue (Districts 2, 5)
Local access for residents, deliveries and emergency services were provided at all times during work hours.
