The San Francisco County Transportation Authority is announcing a Call for Projects for the San Francisco One Bay Area Grant Cycle 4 County Program.
What is the One Bay Area Grant Program?
Through the One Bay Area Grant County program, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission directs federal funding to projects and programs that implement Plan Bay Area, with particular focus on projects that support Priority Development Areas — places near public transit planned for new homes, jobs, and community amenities, and Transit-Oriented Communities — places within one half-mile from transit stops and stations that are designed to enable people to access and use transit more often for more types of trips.
Who Can Apply?
Bay Area cities, counties, transit agencies, federally-recognized Tribal governments, and congestion management agencies are eligible to apply. In San Francisco, this includes but is not limited to:
BART
Caltrain
City and County of San Francisco (including Public Works and SF Planning)
San Francisco County Transportation Authority
San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency
Eligible project sponsors should review all information on the OBAG Cycle 4 Call for Projects webpage before applying. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on July 7, 2026 to be considered for funding.
How much funding is available?
We are seeking proposals for Cycle 4 of the One Bay Area Grant program which includes up to $48,660,000 over the next four years (fiscal years beginning 2026 to 2029). The minimum grant amount is $500,000.
What kind of projects are eligible?
Eligible project types include but are not limited to:
- Transit improvements
- Street safety and streetscape improvements
- Projects that maintain transportation infrastructure in a state of good repair
- Safe Routes to School
- And more
See MTC's OBAG 4 County & Local Program Call for Projects Guidelines and Project Selection and Programming Policies for the full list of eligible project types. Visit our website to see a list of projects previously funded by OBAG.
How are projects selected?
As the Congestion Management Agency for San Francisco, the Transportation Authority will evaluate project applications and submit a list of San Francisco project nominations to MTC. MTC will then evaluate the nominations submitted regionwide and make the final decision on which projects will be awarded funding.
How can I share project ideas or feedback?
Members of the public are invited to share project ideas and feedback during public comment at upcoming Community Advisory Committee or Board meetings, or by emailing obag@sfcta.org. Transportation Authority staff will share project ideas received with the relevant eligible sponsors.
Following the July 7th application deadline, we will post submitted applications on our website for public review and comment. There will also be an opportunity to provide feedback on the recommended project nominations in fall 2026.
