Electric vehicle charging stations in a parking garage

New Transportation Authority-funded electric vehicle fast chargers open for use in the Inner Richmond and Outer Richmond. The Transportation Authority supported the expansion of this charging infrastructure with $200,000 in funding from the Transportation Fund for Clean Air.

Sales of electric cars in California reached record levels last year, according to Veloz, a nonprofit that works with the California Energy Commission to promote electric vehicle growth in California. EVgo has developed the nation's largest public direct current fast charging network and has its largest presence is in California where the highest utilization rates are found in the Bay Area.

The chargers are located at:

  • Safeway at 735 7th Avenue San Francisco, CA 94118 (Inner Richmond)
  • Safeway at 850 La Playa Street, San Francisco, CA 94121 (Outer Richmond)

Locations for these charging stations were prioritized for areas of the city that do not have many existing charging options. The charging stations are accessible to residents, employees, and visitors to the area. This project previously installed chargers at Lucky at 1750 Fulton Street, as well.
