A new paratransit vehicle

SFMTA has replaced 10 diesel-fueled SF Paratransit vans with Prius sedans with funding from the Transportation Fund for Clean Air. The Transportation Authority administers this funding source, which supports projects that help clean the air by reducing vehicle emissions.

These sedans will drastically reduce emissions and are anticipated to reduce operating costs. They will provide comfortable service to the 70 percent of SF Paratransit riders who do not require a wheelchair lift.

These new sedans will complement the rest of SFMTA's paratransit fleet, which consists of over 100 wheelchair accessible vehicles.

San Francisco’s Prop K half-cent sales tax for transportation is also a source of paratransit funding, and includes dedicated paratransit funding to ensure that the service is available to those who need it.
