Introduction
The Duboce Triangle Slow Streets Study will examine opportunities for a more robust and connected north-south Slow Street connection through the Duboce Triangle neighborhood and corresponding changes to traffic circulation. The study will explore the feasibility of converting two existing Class III shared lane bikeways into Slow Streets, possibly replacing or adding to the existing Noe Slow Street: 1) Sanchez Street between Market Street and Duboce Avenue and 2) Steiner Street between Duboce Avenue and Waller Street. These two bikeways would form a key north-south connection in the citywide active-transportation network (see the project area map on the last page). The feasibility of allowing eastbound left turns from Market Street onto Castro Street and prohibiting eastbound left turns onto Noe and/or Sanchez streets will also be explored to maintain traffic without a neighborhood destination on arterial and collector streets from neighborhood streets that can better manage higher volumes of vehicle traffic. This project is funded by the Transportation Authority’s Neighborhood Transportation Program and led by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA).
