The Geary Corridor Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Citizens Advisory Committee (GCAC) meets every two to three months to advise the Authority throughout the environmental analysis for the Geary Corridor BRT Project. The GCAC provides input on refining BRT alternatives, considering project benefits and impacts for all users of the corridor, developing mitigation strategies, and identifying a preferred alternative.

There are currently TWO vacancies on the Committee. One is for a representative from the Tenderloin/Downtown area, and one is an at-large seat. All interested persons are invited to apply, especially applicants from neighborhoods along the Geary corridor. CAC members are expected to attend all meetings.

Applications are due to the Authority's offices by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4th.

MEETING INFORMATION

The next meeting of the Geary Citizens Advisory Committee (GCAC) will be at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 11, 2013.  A meeting is also planned for Thursday, September 12, 2013.  Updates on analysis and schedule are available at each GCAC meeting. Meetings are open to the public and are held at the Transportation Authority, 1455 Market St., 22nd Floor. Located at Market and 11th streets, one block east of Van Ness Ave., Authority offices are accessible, and convenient to the Van Ness Muni station, Civic Center BART station, and several bus lines.

Role of the Geary BRT Citizens Advisory Committee

The GCAC meets on a quarterly basis to advise the project team during the environmental analysis.

The GCAC will provide input in refining Geary BRT alternatives; reviewing project benefits and impacts; identifying mitigation strategies; and selecting a preferred alternative.

Appointment to the GCAC

The GCAC consists of 11 members, representing corridor and at-large interests.  On February 12, 2008, the Authority Board adopted the structure and process for appointment of the GCAC for the environmental phase of the project (view Board meeting agenda).
