Southgate Road Realignment Project

Project Overview

Upon completion, Southgate Road will serve as the critical local road connection between the Bay Bridge I-80/westbound and eastbound on- and off-ramps. This full project is expected to be complete in summer of 2020.

The Southgate Road Realignment Project will realign Southgate Road (on the south side of I-80) to the north of Quarters 8 and under the I-80 eastbound off-ramp and widen and realign part of Hillcrest Road (standard lane width and shoulders). In addition, the eastbound off-ramp will be realigned to the north of Quarters 8, under the realigned Southgate Road and the I-80 eastbound off-ramp to connect to Macalla Road. A bridge structure will be constructed to support the I-80 eastbound off-ramp where the realigned Southgate and eastbound off-ramp would cross underneath. A bike/pedestrian path will be constructed between the SF Bay Bridge Landing and Macalla Road.
