The Transportation Authority’s governing board consists of the 11 members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, sitting as Transportation Authority board members.
The Transportation Authority was created under state law and is a separate legal entity from the City and County of San Francisco. Transportation Authority Board members elect a chair every January. The chair appoints the members and chairs of the board’s two committees and serves as an ex-officio member on the committees.
The Transportation Authority also acts as the Treasure Island Mobility Management Agency Board, which coordinates the transportation needs of Treasure Island.
