At the February 15, 2011 meeting of the Authority Board, Commissioner Elsbernd requested that the Authority calendar an item to discuss Caltrain's fiscal crisis and the potential impacts on San Francisco of proposed severe service cuts if sufficient funding is not identified for the Fiscal Year 2011/12 operating budget.  At the March 22 meeting of the Finance Committee, Gigi Harrington, Deputy Chief Executive Officer with the Joint Powers Board (the agency that oversees Caltrain), will provide an overview of Caltrain's fiscal situation and potential solutions under consideration to address operating shortfalls for the next two fiscal years, providing time for a permanent, dedicated source of funds for Caltrain to be put into place.   This is an information item.
