GCAC recruitment to continueOn July 20th, the Transportation Authority Board appointed 1 new member to the Geary BRT Citizens Advisory Committee (GCAC), leaving two seats open. To preserve the Board-approved structure, the Board has directed Authority staff to focus recruitment on two members in the Downtown/Tenderloin areas. The next meeting of the GCAC will be on Thursday, July 29 at 6:00pm. This meeting will include information on the Mtg #10 agenda (previously cancelled due to lack of quorum). The Geary BRT Citizens Advisory Committee (GCAC) typically meets on a bimonthly basis on the last Thursday of the month. Updates on analysis and schedule (July 29th update) will be offered at each GCAC meeting. All GCAC meetings are open to the public and are held at the Transportation Authority, 100 Van Ness Avenue, 26th Floor. The Authority is located at the corner of Van Ness & Fell, accessible from the Van Ness Muni station, Civic Center BART station, and several bus lines.

Meeting #1, Information and MaterialsThe inaugural GCAC meeting was held on Thursday, July 31. The meeting included a presentation on SFMTA's Transit Effectiveness Project (TEP). See more information on the TEP. Role of the Geary BRT Citizens Advisory CommitteeThe GCAC meets on a quarterly basis to advise the project team during the environmental analysis. The GCAC will provide input in refining Geary BRT alternatives; reviewing project benefits and impacts; identifying mitigation strategies; and selecting a preferred alternative. Appointment to the GCACThe GCAC consists of 11 members, representing corridor and at-large interests. On February 12, 2008, the Authority Board adopted the structure and process for appointment of the GCAC for the environmental phase of the project (view Board meeting agenda).
