Bicycle Facility ProgramThe Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District) has issued a call for projects for the FY 2008/09 Bicycle Facility Program (BFP). The BFP is a grant program that provides funding to reduce motor vehicle emissions through the implementation of new bicycle facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Funding for the BFP is provided by the Air District’s Transportation Fund for Clean Air. The BFP supports the implementation of bicycle projects through a streamlined process in which qualified projects are eligible to receive funding, up to a maximum grant amount based on the proposed project type. Grant awards are made primarily on a first-come first-served basis, utilizing a simplified grant application and evaluation procedure. Eligible ProjectsThe following new bicycle facilities can be constructed / installed with BFP funding:
A single project may combine multiple project types. Schedule for FY 2008/09 TFCA Regional Fund CycleAir District staff will begin reviewing grant applications June 16, 2008. Grant applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis while funds remain available. If the BFP is oversubscribed initially, projects will be chosen, by lottery, from all eligible grant applications received by 4:00 PM on June 16, 2008.
