On November 4, 2003, Proposition K (Prop K) was approved by 75% of San Francisco voters.  The Proposition K plan supersedes, or replaces, the Proposition B Expenditure Plan that was approved by voters in 1989 to collect a one-half of one percent sales tax and use it to finance transportation improvements for the City and County of San Francisco. Proposition K also approved a new 30-year Transportation Expenditure Plan.
