Since 1990, the Authority has also been the designated Congestion Management Agency (CMA) for San Francisco. In this role, the Authority is responsible for developing and administering the Congestion Management Program (CMP). Through its CMA activities, the Authority has been able to leverage state and federal transportation dollars to complement Prop K revenues. The Authority also tracks transportation system performance to ensure that San Francisco gets good value for its transportation investments and prepares a long-range Countywide Transportation Plan to guide future investment decisions.

Neighborhood Transportation Planning
( 9 items )
Supporting neighborhood transportation planning (NTP) is just one of the goals that emerged from the Countywide Transportation Plan. As part of that effort, the Authority supports community-based transportation improvements through a neighborhood transportation planning program. This program aims both to address community concerns on transportation conditions in their neighborhood and to engage community leadership in the transportation planning process. Throughout the study process the Authority coordinates closely with residents, businesses, community groups, and agency staff to identify needs and solutions, and to coordinate with other projects.
Working with community groups and agency partners such as the Municipal Transportation Agency, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Public Health and other City agencies as appropriate, neighborhood transportation plans have been developed for several areas within the city.
To learn more about the neighborhood transportation planning process, please see our NTP Fact Sheet (PDF).
